Hopi ear candles
Hopi Ear Candles by Lily Russell,
Hopi Ear Candles are hollow tubes made of cotton, soaked in beeswax, honey extracts and herbs. I only use Biosun ear candles, which meet the European Health Standard for class lla Medical products. When lit, the candle acts like a chimney causing the warm air inside to rise. There is a very gentle suction effect, and the flame creates a vibration of air in the candle. This generates a massage like effect on the eardrum. It induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and a balance of pressure in the ears.
How are the candles used,
The treatment is carried out with the client lying on their side with the head supported on a pillow. Firstly the candle is tested for a snug fit, and then it is lit and carefully inserted into the outer ear. A little warmth is felt and hissing, crackling noises are heard as the candle burns. The flame is allowed to burn down to the safety mark. The candle is then removed and extinguished in a bowl of water. A relaxing facial massage completes the treatment, with draining movements carried out around the ear and sinus areas.
